Tutorial # 01: Basic Render Layers
This tutorial introduces you to the basic functionality of separating elements for compositing using Janus's pre-built command type called BTY and BTY2. The tutorial will also demonstrate how to render a foreground element so that it will composite easily.
Prerequisites: before you proceed it is helpful to have read at least the Introduction, Concept, and Group-Command Relationship sections of the documentation. Topics explained in those sections are not reviewed in this tutorial, and it is assumed that you understand them.
Scene synopsis: the scene featured here is a sphere inside a box. There are several lights, some of which are volumetric lights inside the sphere. The sphere has holes in them allowing lights to cast shadows of the sphere unto the box. The sphere is animated to come out of the box, which starts out closed but open during the animation.
